BeeBox Systems was founded in 2009 in a back-bedroom in Blyth, Northumberland, when school friends Stu and Steven spotted that local bars were installing flatscreen TVs to show football matches. However, when there was no sport to show, venue managers had little use for the screens – so the pair used their computer programming knowledge to develop software that could design and show drinks promotions to profit from the unused time.
